Energy Conservation Seminar

Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) organized a seminar on Environment and Energy conservation on September 12. It was held at Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management. Around 120 volunteers from the college had registered for the seminar. Students from three different streams i.e. BMS, BSc I.T. and BMM were present at the seminar. PCRA promotes research, development and deployment efforts aimed at petroleum conservation and environment protection. Dr. Naryani and his colleague initiated the session with a PowerPoint presentation. Session commenced with present development of society and the growing demand for new technologies in this vast world. Requirement of sustainable environment, necessary replacements were the points highlighted by them. Benefits like saving money, preventing the exposure of harmful gases, distribution of electricity in rural areas were put forward. They explored the topics which are of grave concern to discuss like Global Warming, Acid Rains, Ozone Depletion, Loss of Biodiversity, Melting of Glaciers and Ecosystem. Useful tips for conserving non renewable sources of energy which can be initiated by every individual on household bases were shared. Programmes and projects that can be taken up by civilian were also put forth. An interactive session which comprised of question answers and concluding remarks between students and Dr. Naryani was remarkable. After a long discussion, there was a small quiz for students. And the winner of the quiz was given a certificate and an apron. Dr. Naryani and his colleague were honored with a token of gift and flowers by Dr. Mrs. Geetha Mohan the principal of the college. This seminar ended with a convincing fact that mankind is slowly moving towards its own extinction.
