IDF Blood Donation Drive
After marking its presence at University of Mumbai, Kalina on Independence Day, volunteers of UPG N.S.S. attended a blood donation drive organized by IDF at Bangur Nagar, Goregaon (West). IDF social activist educated the people of near-by area about the importance of blood donation. They placed banners of blood donation outside buildings and on road side for spreading awareness.
The Blood Donation Drive commenced at 10.00am on 15th August, 2012. There was a good response from the targeted audience. More than 200 people had arrived to donate blood. Before donating blood, the donors were examined on the basis of age, weight and hemoglobin level. This analysis was to check whether the person is eligible to donate blood. The people were asked to fill a detailed form about their past and current history.
In all 100 units of blood was collected from donors which included N.S.S. volunteers of UPG College of Management and Vivek College, IDF social activist and locals of Bangur Nagar. There were doctors to take care of donors who felt weak or giddy after donating blood. Certificates were given to the donors by IDF as an appreciation gesture. The volunteers who attended the drive were then given certificates in appreciation of their contribution towards society.
The drive ended up with a heartwarming satisfaction for contributing towards a noble cause.
