Blood Donation Drive
The NSS unit of Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management organized a Blood Donation Drive along with Think Foundation and Lions Club of Juhu in association with J.J. Hospital on 16th of July, 2012. The drive was carried out in the college premises. Mr. Vinay Shetty from Think Foundation visited the college on 14th of July, 2012 to educate the students about the importance of blood donation, Thalassemia disorder and even motivated the students to donate blood.
The Blood Donation Drive commenced at 9.00am on 16th July, 2012. There was an overwhelming response from the students. More than 300 students had arrived to donate blood. Before donating blood, the students were examined on the basis of age, weight and hemoglobin level. This analysis was to check whether the person is eligible to donate blood. The students were asked to fill a detailed form about their past and current history.
In all 182 units of blood was collected. The donor’s included N.S.S. volunteers, non-teaching and teaching staff. Donors were given refreshment after donating blood. There were doctors to take care of donors who felt weak or giddy after donating blood. Certificates, Thank You card, Donor’s card and pens were given to the donors by Think Foundation and Lions Club of Juhu as a token of love and appreciation.
On 17th July Thalassemia check-up was arranged for TY students . The drive ended up with a heartwarming satisfaction for contributing towards a noble cause.
