RRC Membership Drive

December 10th to 15th, 2012

The NSS unit of USHA PRAVIN GANDHI College of Management carried out a membership drive in association with the Red Ribbon Club. This drive was conducted in the 2nd week of December. During this drive the volunteers distributed RRC forms to the students and encouraged them to become RRC members. Along with the membership forms, students were educated about the working and the activities conducted by the club. At the end of the week a total of 306 forms were filled by the students of UPG COLLEGE.

 

Essay Competition

December 10th, 2012

Usha Pravin Gandhi College had organized a essay competition for all the NSS volunteers to create awareness about HIV AIDS. The competition was held on 10th of December 2012 on 4th floor at 1.30 pm, wherein all the NSS Volunteers were actively present. The name of the topic was “BIOGRAPHY OF A AIDS PERSON”. The topic was about that the people who are surfing from HIV are not untouchables and the problems that they faced because of it. The topic was successful in spreading awareness about AIDS in its own way; in general it showed the problems faced by any AIDS patients and also how to face the problems. The volunteers learnt from the topic about AIDS Awareness and also how to treat patients suffering with it. The activity was a big success.

 

Poster Competition

December 13th, 2012

Usha Pravin Gandhi College had organized a poster competition for all the NSS volunteers to create awareness about HIV AIDS. The competition was held on 13th December 2012 on 2nd floor at 2.00 pm, wherein all the NSS Volunteers were actively present. The name of the topic was “SEXUAL DISCRIMININATION”. The topic was about sexual discrimination between men and woman. Women’s are treated inferior in the 21st century. The topic was successful in spreading awareness  in its own way; it showed in general the problems faced by any woman in society. The volunteers learnt from the seminar and to treat woman tackling with it. The activity was a massive success.

 

AIDS Pamphlet Distribution

December 13th, 2012

The  NSS unit volunteers created awareness regarding HIV/AIDS by distributing the pamphlets at Indira Nagar, Vile Parle. To spread awareness regarding  AIDS and how to prevent it.The main motto behind this activity was to aware  the masses about the topic. Volunteers interacted with the locals and helped in clearing their doubts. It was great to know that the people who got the pamphlets were really keen to know what was it about. The activity ended successfully.

 

Movie Screening

Usha Pravin Gandhi College had organized a Movie screening for all the NSS volunteers to create awareness about HIV AIDS. The Screening was held on 14th of December 2012 on 3rd floor at 3.00 pm, wherein all the NSS Volunteers were actively present. The name of the movie screened was “Phir Milenge”. The Movie was about a working woman who was surfing from HIV and the problems that she faced because of it. The movie was successful in spreading awareness about AIDS in its own way; it showed in general the problems faced by any AIDS patients and also how to face the problems. The volunteers learnt from the movie about AIDS Awareness and also how to treat patients suffering with it. The activity had a great success.

 

Debate Competition

The NSS volunteers of USHA PRAVIN GANDHI College of Management had organized a debate competition as a part of RRC week on “Should Sex education be made mandatory in school in India”.

NSS volunteers participated in the debate and were divided in the groups of two named as “For & Against”. Many points were highlighted by both the teams. Some of which were contradictory. The debate was  hosted  for an hour. “For” team had a strong point to convince the opposing team. From the debate, it is concluded “Sex Education must be made mandatory in India”.
